Orbetello

and its Lagoon

image-568

Orbetello is located in the southern part of Tuscany in a territory that is particularly interesting, both as regards the naturalistic aspect, as well as from a historical and artistic point of view.

Orbetello is internationally renowned above all for its lagoon, an extraordinary ecosystem that is home to one of the most important wetland reserves of Tuscany, in fact numerous species of fish live here and is the natural habitat of marsh birds.

The sea plane base of Nervi in Orbetello is a veritable Aeronautical legend: the great trans-Atlantic flights departed from here 80 years ago.

Argentario

and Giglio Island

The Argentario is an impressive promontory surrounded by the sea and connected to the coast by the sandbars Giannella and Feniglia. There are two important tourist resorts on the Argentario: Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole. The Argentario is unique for its landscape, its marine environment and its exceptionally mild climate.

Giglio Island is still an authentic and unspoilt area: its crystal-clear azure sea and its rich and fishy seabed enclose a territory, 90% of which is still wild, which invites you to go on an adventure.

Smooth granite cliffs alternate with bays, coves and sandy beaches.

Ansedonia

sea and tradition

1453995910835

Ansedonia is entirely composed of villas that peep out from amongst green woods and Mediterranean scrub. The villas, built in the Fifties and Sixties, have become a place reserved for nature holidays.

Ansedonia is also a place of great historical and archaeological interest, with the remains of Roman villas dating to the 1st and 2nd century BC and the remains of the Ancient City of Cosa. The beach of Ansedonia is famous for the two engineering works that the Romans used to regulate the currents, from the nearby Lake Burano to the sea: the cleft that served as a natural "sluice" known as "Spacco della Regina" and the artificial fissure "la Tagliata ".
